"I believe there are very few things more important than having a safety team at your church. With that said, not everyone who desires to be on the safety team should be. There is no room for lone rangers. We work as a team. All of the team members have specific jobs and areas to cover. The team needs to know the plan if bad people come in, what is the plan to get everyone out as quickly as possible and who will be engaging the person to allow that to happen. The leadership of the church needs to be kept updated to what's going on and to give their blessing. I count it an honor to help protect my family, friends, and even people I don't know very well. If you are thinking about starting a safety team at your church, I would say definitely do it, but take care. This is a very serious decision and takes time to apply...
